About Us

Our Story

We’ve been making vasectomy convenient and accessible for decades.

Our founder, Dr. Charles L. Wilson, started The Vasectomy Clinic in Seattle on July 1, 1987, after years of dedication to improving the patient vasectomy experience.

Dr. Wilson’s innovations include developing new vasectomy instruments and refining the DrSnip Vasectomy Technique. As a result, The Vasectomy Clinic emerged as a unique concept—a clinic focused on fulfilling a specific need in the community and dedicated to making the process easier and more comfortable for patients.

More than three decades since our founding, our mission remains the same: continue to simplify vasectomy, help families understand their options, and focus on positive patient experiences.

The Story Behind the Name

One morning in 1995, our founder opened his front door to find the words “Dr. Snip” staring up at him above the masthead of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Journalist John Marshall had written a humor-laced but informative article about Dr. Wilson and the growing popularity of The Vasectomy Clinic, highlighting his innovative instruments and techniques.

The nickname stuck, with patients and even colleagues beginning to refer to Dr. Wilson by the catchy moniker. Today, DrSnip is known for providing patients with a simple and comfortable vasectomy experience, which our team remains committed to every day.
