Male Birth Control Options for Dunthorpe Families

For men who are confident they do not want biological children in the future or have completed their families, vasectomy offers a permanent male birth control option.

Because a vasectomy is intended to be permanent, patients should carefully consider their future family planning goals before choosing the procedure. Our team can answer questions about vasectomy and help you better understand what the procedure involves.

Why Choose a Vasectomy:

  • It’s a quick (~10-15 minute) and effective procedure to achieve permanent sterility.
  • It’s incredibly safe and performed more than 500,000 times annually in the United States.
  • It’s more than 99.5% effective.
  • It does not affect a man’s sex drive, hormones, or sexual performance.

What to Expect From Your Vasectomy at DrSnip

Before your procedure, your DrSnip physician will explain what will happen and allow you to ask questions. The vasectomy itself generally takes only 10–15 minutes.

Afterward, you’ll return home with instructions for rest, activity, and recovery. Mild soreness, tenderness, or swelling can occur during the first few days.

Post-Vasectomy Care & Semen Testing

Your care doesn’t end when you leave the clinic. DrSnip provides post-vasectomy instructions to help you understand what activities to avoid and when you can gradually return to your normal routine. A DrSnip physician is also available 24/7 for urgent concerns following your procedure.

Most importantly, a vasectomy does not provide immediate sterility. You must continue using another form of birth control until your post-vasectomy semen test confirms the absence of sperm.

Our team will explain when to complete your semen testing and what happens after your results are received.
