DrSnip's No-Needle, No-Scalpel Vasectomy Technique

Preparing for Your Vasectomy

DrSnip provides instructions before your appointment so you understand how to prepare and what will happen on procedure day.

You will need to arrange for someone to drive you home after your vasectomy. Once home, plan to rest for the remainder of the day.

Many men return to desk work and light activities within one or two days. Strenuous exercise and similar physical activity should generally be postponed for at least one week to allow for recovery.

How Does a Vasectomy Prevent Pregnancy?

A vasectomy prevents sperm from becoming part of the semen, providing a permanent form of male birth control once the procedure has been confirmed successful. After the required follow-up testing, vasectomy is more than 99.5% effective at preventing pregnancy.

The procedure does not reduce testosterone or negatively affect erections, orgasm, sex drive, or sexual performance.

Because vasectomy is intended to be permanent, patients should carefully consider their future family planning goals. Every procedure requires a consultation, giving you time to discuss your decision with a DrSnip physician and get answers to your questions.

Considering Male Birth Control in Granite Falls?

When you know your family is complete, choosing a permanent form of birth control can be an important next step. Men considering a vasectomy in the Granite Falls, WA area can turn to DrSnip for care specifically centered around the vasectomy experience.

Unlike a general urology clinic offering many different procedures, DrSnip focuses exclusively on vasectomy. This specialized approach allows our doctors to guide patients through each stage, from the initial consultation and preparation to the procedure, recovery, and follow-up testing.

Our goal is simple: make getting a vasectomy easier, more comfortable, and less stressful than you may expect.

What Happens After Your Procedure?

Your vasectomy does not become effective immediately. Sperm can remain after the procedure, so you must continue using another form of birth control until follow-up testing confirms success.

At DrSnip, post-vasectomy semen testing is performed after at least eight weeks and 15 ejaculations. Testing confirms whether sperm are still present and is an essential part of determining when other contraception can be discontinued.

The vasectomy procedure itself generally takes approximately 10–15 minutes. When appropriate, patients may be able to complete their consultation and procedure during the same visit.
